On Monday, May 26, 2025, work began on the restoration of the landslides on the Selleries road, where the refuge and pasture are located, in the Val Chisone. This is a project that was initiated even before the significant damage recorded during the summer of 2024, whereby the Management Authority of the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps is the beneficiary of a FESR funding of €385,500 for a project shared with the Municipalities of Fenestrelle and Roure.

The renovation of the road between Colle delle Finestre and Colle della Vecchia, Val Chisone, is in the starting phase. After the assignment and procurement of the works, a first operational meeting has already taken place between the involved entities and the contracted company, where the start of the construction site was set for the first days of June.

On the occasion of the World Biodiversity Day, established by the United Nations in 2000, celebrated every year on May 22, we publish the results of a monitoring activity carried out by the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps in the Avigliana Lakes Natural Park on the Emys orbicularis, the rare European marsh turtle, of which about thirty specimens survive and are at risk of extinction. A small example of biodiversity that is at risk of being lost forever.

An important renovation work has been completed at the Charterhouse of Montebenedetto, in the municipality of Villarfocchiardo (TO), with extraordinary maintenance of the roof of the rural building adjacent to the church, within the monumental complex. The Carthusian abbey, founded in 1198, is managed by the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps by the Piedmont Region, which has allocated €80,000 by the end of 2024 for extraordinary maintenance interventions and for the preservation of the heritage.

La rivista “Contributions to Entomology” ha recentemente pubblicato un articolo scientifico basato su uno studio realizzato dal personale delle Aree Protette delle Alpi Cozie. La pubblicazione edita dal Senckenberg Deutsches Entomologisches Institut ha accettato il lavoro sottoposto da Davide Giuliano, guardiaparco, e Barbara Rizzioli, funzionaria dell’Area Biodiversità, con il titolo “Mini-round box as standardized sampling method for orthopterans in alpine and subalpine grasslands: a field study to highlight strengths and weaknesses”.

The mosquito project implemented by the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps and the municipalities of Avigliana, Sant’Antonino di Susa, Trana, and Villardora is coming to a conclusion to raise awareness among the population about the issues related to the presence of culicids in the area of the Avigliana Lakes Natural Park and its surroundings.

On April 29, 2025, with ordinance no. 6 from the Mayor of the Municipality of Chianocco, access to the Orrido di Chianocco and the Via Ferrata is reopened.

Con gli eventi del Primo Maggio ad Avigliana si conclude l’edizione di Chantar l’Uvern 2025. Una XVI edizione che ha toccato ben 33 comuni, proponendo in 4 mesi quasi 100 eventi che hanno registrato una grande partecipazione di pubblico. Il finale con Tsant’an tsamin e FINAS RAITS, canti in lingua madre dal mondo.

Since April 1st, the Parks of the Cozie Alps can rely on a new Anti-Poison Dog Unit (UCA) in operation. The duo formed by park ranger Lorenzo Brino and his Australian shepherd Maya has passed the final exam, the security test that certifies the dog’s ability to intervene independently in poison search activities.
