On Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 4:30 PM in Coazze, at via Matteotti theatrical performance The Lambs of Calabria.
A show that retraces the history of the Waldensians starting from the preaching of the founder Valdo of Lyons up to the massacre of the Calabrian Waldensians who lived in Guardia Piemontese and neighboring villages, today in the province of Cosenza, on June 5, 1561.
Alberto Coral is not Waldensian, and his narrative highlights the universal aspects of "our" history: the claim of some the right to live according to their own values in a fairer and freer world, and on the other side, the arrogance of the power system, which has no problem physically annihilating those who carry such deeply human demands.
Coral's narrative art maintains a constant balance with irony and lightness, punctuating the story with theatrical inventions and songs from the 1940s, which with rhythms and words aimed at carefree joy tell of that indomitable human aspiration for happiness, joy, peace, "hoping against hope."
A production of the Atelier del Teatro Fisico of Turin,
Narration by Alberto Coral
Piano by Luca Pozzi,
Directed by Philip Radice
Curated by Daniela Ricatti, Angela Camerano, and Domenico Inaudi, with historical consulting from Marco Fratini
